Press | Statement and Public Comments on Proposed ESSA Regulations

Washington, DC—Today, New Leaders submitted public comments on the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed regulations to implement accountability and state plan provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). We believe it is critical that the Department use the regulatory process to encourage states and districts to ensure every school is led by a well-prepared, well-supported principal. In our comments, we provide ideas for incorporating leadership into the proposed regulations as well as addressing several accountability issues that enable school leaders to advance equity and effectively support teachers and students.
