Today, more than 125 members of the New Leaders community provided input on the Federal Commission on School Safety’s recommendations.
In March 2018, President Trump convened the Commission, comprised of senior Administration officials from the U.S. Departments of Education, Justice, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security, and charged it with developing actionable recommendations for keeping students safe at school, including, but not limited to, addressing gun violence. The public has the opportunity to inform those recommendations at public hearings and by submitting feedback directly to the Commission.
The New Leaders school safety letter includes recommendations based on research and the experiences of New Leaders alumni community. The New Leaders community calls on the Commission to develop—and ensure effective, timely execution of—school safety recommendations that are based on scientific evidence, informed by the experiences and needs of educators, students, and families, and free from partisan politics.
