Taryn Waters
Taryn Waters is a strategic leader with a proven record of creating sustained value for mission-driven organizations that accelerate social impact. Taryn has worked in the K-12 and higher education space for the past ten years. Prior to that, she spent two years working in large scale innovation at the X Prize Foundation, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the world (e.g., James Cameron, Elon Musk, Ratan Tata, Arianna Huffington) to help problem-solve some of humanity’s greatest unsolved challenges (e.g., global literacy, sustainable food sources, ocean plastics crisis).
A few of Taryn’s most notable professional accomplishments in the education field include: ideating and scaling the K-12 professional services division for Corwin Press; partnering with institutions of higher education to develop online personalized learning programs; and launching the largest evidence-based database in the world on what works best to improve teaching and learning (www.visiblelearningmetax.com).
Over the course of her career, Taryn has developed comprehensive education strategies and solutions for hundreds of school systems and dozens of universities around the world. Taryn has a deep understanding of the education sector—including classroom practice, pedagogy, professional learning, education policy, state standards, and learning design—and is motivated by an innate desire to have a positive impact on the lives of learners across the globe.
Taryn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science. She graduated from the UCLA Anderson School of Management Creativity and Innovation Executive Education program, and is a Global Executive MBA candidate at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
