Equity is more than a mindset. Too often policies inside and outside of the classroom—be they for attendance, behavior or communications—reinforce exclusionary practices that need to be replaced with procedures, expectations, practices, and beliefs that are inclusionary. Inclusionary policies ensure all students feel welcomed, valued, seen, and cared for. In this workshop, you will take a deep dive into how to identify the root cause of exclusionary practices or policies and then redesign them to make them equitable. You’ll examine real-school examples and use protocols to do the same for an existing policy within your school. When school leaders set a clear vision and prioritize creating environments that are free from bias and limitation, student learning soars.
