What does it mean to be culturally relevant and rigorous? And why are they both important? In this workshop, you’ll unpack how this powerful combination is one of the fastest ways to increase student achievement—and how schools can ensure both are happening in classrooms daily. You'll take a deep dive into what is known as the Instructional Core, the relationship between the teacher, the student, and the content. Through that lens, you’ll learn how to zero in on the learning task, recognize who is doing the majority of the academic work, identify actions that affirm and value student identities, gather evidence of high expectations and standards-aligned content, and much more. Taking the time to deepen instructional leadership skills benefits everyone in the school community.
